Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. ACOF is a registered nonprofit organization in the State of Florida. We have also filed for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and are currently in the review process with the IRS. While we await federal approval, we are actively operating our programs and gratefully accepting donations from supporters nationwide.

  • ACOF was created from a lived in experience and a deep desire to support children navigating difficult seasons of life. Founded and creatively directed by a full-time mom with a background in marketing and community outreach, the entire organization was built to bring together compassion, creativity, and practical support in ways that feel accessible and meaningful.

Our mission centers on supporting children's mental and emotional well-being through community events, new luggage filled with encouraging resources that meet children where they are. With a heart shaped by firsthand awareness of the silent struggles many children in the foster community face, ACOF focuses on creating welcoming spaces so families, volunteers, and local partners can come together to offer encouragement, stability, and faith.

  • ACOF is funded through donations, community fundraising, local business partnerships, and mission-based experiences such as donation-drive markets, craft fairs, workshops, wellness retreats, and family programs that directly support our work.

  • We serve children in foster care and the community partners who support them, including foster families, group homes, shelters, and organizations working directly with youth.

  • ACOF was created to fill a gap in mental health support and comfort resources for children in foster care. Many children enter care with few personal belongings and limited access to tools that nurture emotional well-being as well as  additional, outside support. Our mission is to create spaces where children feel seen & supported while providing resources they can carry with them throughout every new journey ahead inside and outside of foster home transitions! Meet our founder to hear more about her why.

  • You can donate online here or donate your new or gently used bags, backpacks, duffles and other luggage in-person with our local hosts. We will assure your bag is filled with the proper tools before placements, see whats inside.

  • ACOF is Florida State official Nonprofit Organization. We have filed for federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and are currently in the waiting period. Tax-exempt status is typically granted retroactively to the date our application was submitted.

This means donations made during this period can become tax-deductible once approval is finalized. We recommend that donors keep their donation receipts for their records.

We will update our website and notify our community as soon as our federal nonprofit status is officially confirmed.

  • All donations go directly into creating each Case of Faith, including our custom ACOF resource cards. Every item is carefully curated to encourage and support children’s mental and emotional well-being. Donations also help us distribute these cases to trusted community partners, family outreach programs, shelters, and other organizations we partner with. We believe that every donation reaches the hands of someone who could truly use the support it provides.

  • We are not licensed mental health professionals. Our work is wellness-focused and community-based, centered on play, nature, and emotional awareness. We do not diagnose or provide clinical mental health services. Our team is actively pursuing additional training in youth mental health awareness, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices to better support the children and families we serve. In the future, we plan on collaborating with other qualified health, wellness, and mental health professionals who specialize in different areas to help expand the types of supportive experiences and educational opportunities that are available to families and children in the future.

  • We host community-centered events for all families, including donation drives that double as vendor pop-up flea markets with a welcoming, porch-like feel. Kids, parents, and local businesses can connect, shop, eat, explore, and support meaningful causes. Our hands-on craft fairs, workshops, and assemblies encourage creativity, emotional awareness, and giving back. Looking ahead, we plan to introduce Mom’s Day Out programs and wellness-focused experiences for the entire community. Learn More

We believe in the power of planting seeds of faith in places that may need it most—through how we serve, encourage, and care for others. Our mission focuses on supporting children's mental health and emotional well-being while creating a space where people from all backgrounds feel welcomed, respected, and valued. All while gently planting seeds of faith along the way.

  • Yes, absolutely. We gratefully accept donations of Bibles, faith-based pamphlets, devotionals, coloring books, journals, and other uplifting resources that offer encouragement and hope. While space may not always allow a Bible in every care package, we trust these materials will reach the individuals they are meant to reach at the right time. As our outreach grows, we also plan to host Bible donation drives to expand access to these resources within our community, and additional donations are always deeply appreciated.
